First Halloween!

Today is LWK's first Halloween!  Although we didn't go trick-or-treating, I still made him a costume.

The hat he got for his baby shower from Cousin Joel was a great inspiration!

And then I found these sweet shoes at Old Navy!

I made a winged cape to match the hat.

Maybe next year he should be Joe Cool!:)

We see lots of trick-or-treaters here on The Ridge, but I can attest that LWK was the only (and the cutest) owl in our neighborhood!

Kiss the Baby!

LWK has fallen in love with this baby in the mirror:

He loves to give him kisses.

But really, who wouldn't want to give this cutie kisses?

The Blur...

Yes, that is what the past couple of weeks have been - a total blur.  It hasn't helped that we have all been fighting a cold in our home.  Poor LWK has been sick since the beginning of October.  There was a trip to Urgent Care for a high fever, followed by a week of fever spikes and mom, dad or grandma and grandpa staying with him.  Our usual fabulous through-the-night sleeper wakes up between 2 and 3 in the morning.  He coughs, his nose runs and he is so stuffy, poor guy.  The doctor says that there is a virus going around that just hangs on forever.  We are all just running on empty as his 6th month of life is drawing to a close.

A big milestone (for mom and dad at least) was that LWK had his first night sleeping over and Grandma and Grandpa's house!  J and I went to see a concert for J's birthday and spent the night at a B&B.  It may be the first time in 7 months that I have slept 8 hours straight (it was heaven)!  Of course we spent most of our time wondering how LWK was doing and missing him.  He was good for Grandma and Grandpa but did wake up in the middle of the night for about an hour.  It is nice to know that we can occasionally have a night away!  Maybe the best part was seeing this smiling face the next day (and his happy feet!)!

Food of the Week: Carrots!

After our successful venture into fruits with bananas last week, we decided to go back to the land of veggies with carrots.  LWK LOVED them!

I love the look of satisfaction on his face!

Daddy's little helper!

Big smile!

Mental note for Mommy - carrots should probably be a food for LWK to eat when he is wearing a diaper only...

The Great Pumpkin!

Last weekend we went to visit Grandma and Grandpa and see the great pumpkin they grew in their garden!  Cousin J was there and we got some fun pics of our boys!  And LWK got to wear the super cute coat I got at a consignment sale that had an even CUTER hat to go with it!

Poor LWK was still fighting his cold, but we made it to the pumpkin patch for a quick photo op between rain showers.  Even though he was feeling yucky, we managed to get a smile out of him!

Banana Man!

We found a hit!  Our little guy likes bananas!  He has been sick for the last week with a cold and had a fever yesterday so LWK and I went to Grandma and Grandpas since he couldn't go to daycare.  Grandma had some perfectly ripe bananas and mushed up a bit for LWK.  When I fed it to him, he didn't spit it out and even opened his mouth wider for the second and subsequent bites!  Silly Mama for trying to feed him healthy vegetables first....
LWK finally also has a high chair - after mom did far too much research.  He had bananas in it, but it was so much more fun to use the tray to play with blocks!

Starting Solids

I am not quite sure that LWK is really our child.  We started solids this week and he will open his mouth, take the sweet potatoes (or oat cereal) and then spit it out, usually with a smile.  I just can't believe that a child of ours would not be into food!  Next up, banana.  Our day care mom said every baby likes bananas!

Our Little Steamroller

LWK has been able to roll over for quite a while now, but tonight he just kept going!

6 Months Old

If you would have told me 6 months and one day ago what I thought our little guy would be like, I never could have dreamed we would have such an easy going and happy baby.  I guess this marks the end of the "5th Trimester," and he has continued to develop this amazing personality that has completely won us over.  Although he hasn't really developed any new skills, he is getting MUCH better at the old ones!

This month:

  • He weighs 15lbs, 13oz
  • He is 27 inches long
  • His head is 40cm around
  • He started rolling over because he wants to and is actually enjoying time on his tummy.
  • He practices "vocalizing"
  • He giggles!
  • He started daycare and loves his providers!
  • He made new friends
  • He is getting ticklish
  • His fingerprints are becoming visible (no more opportunities for a perfect crime!)
  • He still sleeps though the night!
  • He graduated to size 3 diapers
  • He still wears mostly 3-6 month clothes, but the 6 - 9 are starting to fit
  • He follows along when we read him a book
  • He likes sitting and playing in his Go-Pod
  • He puts everything in his mouth (especially his toes)
  • He is spitting up less (finally!)
  • He is drooling more (could teeth be on the way???)
  • He has hair!  Well, he always had it, but it is getting darker and more noticeable
  • He wiggles to where he wants to be on the floor (and in his crib)
  • He has grown out of his infant bathtub
  • He likes toys in the bathtub, but he doesn't like the water coming out of the faucet
  • He can ALMOST sit by himself, but still needs help from Mommy and Daddy most of the time.
