J and I were able to take a much-needed vacation this summer. I know that shouldn't sound surprising, but there was a little time that we thought we wouldn't have a vacation at all. We started out in Portland and then headed down the 101. We made a few stops at the "must sees" or "must eats" as the case may be.

Voodoo Doughnut was AMAZING. It was insanely hot that day, but we were happy to finally get inside and see the creations! J's favorite was the maple with bacon, I liked the Voodoo Doll and the Apple Fritter was amazing! We did a taste test on the other doughnuts, but didn't eat them all in case you were wondering.

We took a little hike up to this cute little lighthouse. The weather was so nice and the sky was so pretty!

We stopped in the Redwoods and hugged a tree!

Yosemite was the reason for the trip and we tried to channel our inner Ansel Adams. We need to play with Lightroom to try some of our photos out in black and white. We went to the Mariposa Grove and saw the huge sequoias. El Capitan, Half Dome, Bridalveil Falls and Yosemite Falls were great. It was nice to do some short hikes and see things upclose!

We finished out trip in Ashland at the Shakespeare Festival. I am so glad we went to the "pre-show lecture." If we hadn't, there was no way I would be able to keep up with what was happening in Henry the IV Part One!
