The Future Model

This has been a crazy week between a concert, J travelling and just the general insanity of getting back to work after a break. Not many photos were taken, but tonight LWK made me laugh, like usual.

I was working on the computer when he came walking up to me and handed me his shirt!  Then he started to do silly poses - sticking his tummy out, then sucking it in, flexing his muscles, playing with his belly button.  Super cute!  Also, I have no idea where he got this physique, not from me or J!

And he got a haircut this week that is a bit too short for my liking, and he is ALL LITTLE BOY!!!

Bellingham Weekend

We decided that a weekend out of town was in order for us.  We headed up north and got to relax a bit in Bellingham!  We stayed in a cozy little guesthouse and it was nice to have our own space.  The hosts were super nice!

Our first night in town we went out for pizza.  They didn't have a high chair for LWK (or a booster seat) and he was a big boy and sat in a regular chair and was quite well behaved!

The boys were quite intent on their coloring!

LWK invented a new dipping sauce: Sprite!  Dad even ate it!
After dinner we took a walk along the boardwalk.  LWK was excited to hear the trains and the boats!  I was really proud of him because he walked the entire way, holding our hands of course, but we didn't have to bring a stroller!  We celebrated afterwards with gelato - LWK and I shared - yum!

We cozied in for the night and the next morning we just chilled and relaxed.

I love the Christmas jammies and his little tummy...

He loved going up and down the spiral staircase!
We only brought a few toys and just enough track to make an oval.  LWK happily made that oval and sat in the center to play with his trains.

And there was clowning around and cuddling with Daddy and Mommy, of course.

I have started noticing LWK's little hands so much more lately.  He is starting to fold them like this when he is sitting.

When he was a baby, he would hold on to our fingers while he had a bottle.  Now, when we hold him, he find our thumb and plays with the nail.  So sweet that he finds this comforting.

We didn't have a TV where we stayed, but we did have WiFi.  LWK loved the Cookie Monster channel on YouTube!

After this, our morning went a bit downhill.  We tried to have breakfast at a Creperie, but it was a disaster from the moment we sat down and LWK broke a glass until we left with LWK kicking and screaming.  We ended up going to get doughnuts and enjoyed those at home!

LWK refused to take a real nap, so we headed to the toy store and bookstore.  Of course, as soon as w got him in the stroller, he crashed for a 2.5 hour nap!  He stayed awake long enough to see this pinwheel we got him and grip it with all his might.  It's a big one like the little one Grammie gave him, and he LOVES it!

Finally, when we got up this morning, Bellingham was covered in snow!

It was beautiful, but we decided to hightail it out of there so we wouldn't get stuck in the snow!

We woke up to a bit of snow this morning.  Nothing like the rest of the country (or North America in general) has, but it is still exciting to us here in the PNW.  As soon as he looked out the window he exclaimed, "we have to go build a snowman!"   LWK couldn't wait to get out in it - I got a coat on him but he refused to wear a hat, socks, boots or mittens!  Good thing he doesn't like to actually touch the snow!  He was fascinated with using a carrot as the snowman's nose!

Date Night!

J and I got to have our first date night since October!  Life has just been so busy with work and obligations and an almost 3 year old...  It was nice to go out and dip goodies in melted cheese and chocolate and have a few laughs at Spamalot.

I always really like the IDEA of Monty Python, but after a while it just becomes ridiculous to me.  The best part, aside from just getting to do something grown up together, was that I got the tickets for $12 each as a part of our Seattle Seahawks Super Bowl victory craziness here in Seattle!  I can't complain about that - I think it costs more to go to a movie anymore!

The Giant Gingerbread Man

Grandma gave LWK a fun giant gingerbread man (or person, to be PC) before Christmas and we are just getting around to make it.  I had hoped that LWK would want to participate, but I think he misunderstood me when I asked if he wanted to help.  He thought the cookie was already done and just needed to be eaten.  He didn't want to have anything to do with the whole cooking MAKING thing, just the cookie EATING thing!
I had everything put out so nicely for him to help -
even a Thomas apron!
I did a pretty good job of decorating him, I think!
Wow!  That's a nice big gingerbread man!
Right for his head, of course...
Counting his buttons!
I don't think he needs a foot...
He needs a hat instead!
It was a fun little projec t- I can't wait for Luke to want to start cooking with me!

Today is a rainy and yucky day here in the PNW.  When I went to take a shower this morning, LWK was happily playing downstairs with some Caillou on TV and when I came out of the shower, this is what I found:

I think he had the right idea - stay in bed and be cozy today!

We have this week off from school and we kicked it off in our favorite way - playing with the Mork girls!  They are starting to ALL play together - ERM is even getting in on the action and keeping up with the big kids.  LWK and AGM spent lots of time chasing each other, reading and (LWK's favorite) jumping on their new trampoline!  There were lots of opportunities for snuggles, even with our big kids!  A fun day was had by all!

My friend from college was coming through town to visit another friend in town on business and also her brother, but she was able to make time for us too!  I was a little worried that her 7 year old little boy, SCN, would be bored to tears with LWK's toys, but they had a great time playing TOGETHER.  In fact. we adults actually got to have full conversations while they played!

They were so very sweet together and SCN was so very patient with LWK.  When I was rocking LWK before bed, I asked him if he had fun and he said, "Yes!  SCN is my friend!"  He hasn't ever called anyone his friend, LWK made a good choice for his first friend!

I also took the opportunity to play with Lightroom a little for LWK's pictures that I liked but didn't turn out too great in color.  I am liking the drama of the black and white!  He is loving his tractor lately - must be his farm roots!

Love those eyes!

I like the blank floor!  I wonder how I was actually
able to get a white with no other stuff on the floor
in front of him since it is usually covered in toys!

Happy Valentine's Day!

LWK wants to share his M&Ms (or E&Es as he likes to call them)!

Mom's First Rice Krispy Treats

LWK has his daycare Valentine's Day party tomorrow since there are so few kids there on Fridays.  The treat I wanted to make was rice krispy treats, but as I went to make them, I realized that I HAVE NEVE MADE RICE KRISPY TREATS!!!  My mom is the queen of all bars and treats like this and I think she makes them enough for our family that I never thought to make them myself.  I called her tonight to ask her sage advice.  It was to "use more butter and marshmallows than it asks for so they are really ooey-gooey."  I followed the advice, and aside from having gotten the large marshmallows (the little ones were sold out) they turned out ooey-gooey delicious!

This may be the last of the snow for the year and since we are one of the only areas in the country that hasn't been dumped on, it is cause for celebration!  We had less than an inch at our house (funny since we live so close to the mountains), so we didn't play in it.  But, when we went to breakfast, LWK found this little pile and went. to. town! Ted E. Bear was in tow, of course!
